Summer Hair Part II

I recently wrote about how to keep your hair healthy during the summer months. Now I want to focus on blonde hair during the summer months. I know it's not just blondes who's hair tends to lighten during the summer, but they are the one's who have the most dramatic change.

I know that during the winter my hair will go a warm honey to even ash blonde, but once the summer hits I tend to get natural platinum highlights.

There are certain shampoos and conditioners that can help this transition from winter to summer by gradually lightening your hair through natural ingredients such as chamomile.

There are low-end and high-end products you can use. I have used both and love just depends on how much cash I have to spend which dictates which product I buy.

On the more affordable end is:

JOHN FRIEDA's Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Shampoo and Conditioner

Go Blonder Gently lightens blonde hair with citrus and chamomile extracts.
It contains no ammonia or peroxide so it's gentle enough to use daily.
RRP.  £5.50
* I have been using this product since last year and it's brilliant!!

If you have a bit of extra cash knocking about then I would try this:

AVEDA's Camomile Shampoo
AVEDA Camomile ShampooAVEDA Camomile Color Conditioner

RRP. per liter  £22.50                 RRP. per 250ml £18.00

Camomile Shampoo brightens highlights and lightens blonde and lighter shades of hair.

*I have been using Aveda on and off for years. I love everything about Aveda because not only are their products natural and great for my hair but they smell amazing!

There are also products which help eliminate any brassy, yellow tones in your hair which can be the result of product and mineral build up over time. I like to alternate the products, using the highlighting shampoos and conditioners one wash and using the brightening products the next wash.

If you're saving the pennies, John Frieda does a tone refreshing products at affordable prices:

RRP.  £5.50
The Tone Refreshing Shampoo and Conditioner neutralises brassy tones and protects hair from fading and boosts blonde and grey hair so it is brighter by using UV filters.

Colour Renew 3 minute Tone Booster
(if you want to go that extra mile)

How It Works:
Boosts colour for two times brighter blonde hair. It's been specifically created for colour treated blondes to neutralise brassiness and boost blonde hair within just 3 uses.

Here is Aveda's version of the tone booster shampoo and conditioner:

AVEDA Blue Malva ShampooAVEDA Blue Malva Color Conditioner
RRP. per litre £22.50         RRP. 250ml  £18.00

Blue Malva Shampoo and Conditioner
Blue Malva adds silvery brightness to grey hair and neutralises brassiness in chemically treated blonde hair. The Blue Malva plant balances the hair and scalp while the coneflower intensifies the colour in the hair.
*I am currently using the Blue Malva conditioner during alternating washes to take the brassiness out of my hair. It has really brightened it and I would be lost without this miracle plant!

So there you go! If you want healthy, bright, blonde hair during the summer then I recommend getting yourself a pair of these bad boys to boost those highlights! You will see a noticeable difference!
