Summer Hair Routines!

I have had a lot of people asking me about hair lately, I'm guessing it's because summer is coming up, people have thrashed their hair from having to blow dry it over the winter months or they are just bored!

One of the things people keep asking me is how often I wash my hair It all depends really; I've been quite bad lately and am washing it every two days...whereas I used to wash it literally twice a week!

The less you wash your hair, the healthier it will be. When you wash it, you strip your hair of all it's protective oils, which dries it out over time. Even if you have an oily scalp, you can get around the greasy root look without having to wash it daily.

Here is a rough breakdown of my hair routine: (This is a great one for summer and winter!)

1. Wash hair twice a week with a mild shampoo and conditioner. (I use a moisturising shampoo as my hair tends to be porous and dry.)
TIGI's Oatmeal and Honey Shampoo is really gentle on my hair!

2. If you go to the gym a lot, like I do and you really want the look of fresh clean hair without shampooing after every gym session why not just rinse the oil from your roots in the shower and condition the lower 2/3 of your hair as normal. This way you aren't stripping the hair and you are conditioning it as well!

During the summer I love using Aussie Hair products. For some reason they remind me of summer and I go back to them over and over!
Here is my favourite conditioner from Aussie Hair. Because my hair is long, I need something extra hydrating, especially during the summer.

Aussie Hair Miracle Moist! Smells amazing and my hair feels like silk!

3. If you really want to be hardcore....and I live by this, skip washing your hair and leave it at the 1-2x's a week mark and use a dry shampoo on your roots to lift any oil which also simultaneously fragrances your hair at the same time!
I use Batiste!
Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush 50ml
It smells of Fruitloops to me! If you aren't American then you won't know what I'm talking about!
*Some of my friends still don't understand how to use dry shampoo. It's really simple:

1. Part your hair into sections
2. Shake the can, spray on your roots (yes it will look powdery and white at first)
3. Take a good brush like Toni&Guy paddle brush and brush the powder through your hair until the white disappears.

BONUS is it also adds volume!! So if you are looking for some added volume, even if your hair is clean, add some dry shampoo to bulk it out - works a charm!
