My Style Icons of 2010

I don't normally have style icons. I know it sounds strange! I normally sort of dress to the beat of my own drum if that makes any sense at all. I never followed trends. I tend to find an item I like each season, but I am not a 'go out and buy the whole lot' kind of girl. I try and buy items that will not go out of style or at least if I keep them for a few years they will come BACK into style. If something looks nice on me and fits well and does it's job ie. makes me feel pretty, strong, feminine or whatever the look is I am going for, then its the outfit for me.

I remember when I was younger, my Dad saying to me that I was a trend setter... This was during my rebellious punk stage so I won't take it too much as a compliment, seeing as I had died my hair black, had flame-like red in the front and thought plastic was a great, breathable and flattering choice of trouser.

However, seeing as I have spent most of this year pregnant and watching my wardrobe widdle itself down to a few comfy items I have taken to spying on others and watching their styles enviously. Once I realised who I was watching and envying I also realised that these people are indeed my style icons and not some new, creepy, person watching habit I've picked up in the last 9 months. This group of stylish chicks are the ones that I DO actually draw inspiration from, whether they are styled by themselves or stylist I don't really care...it's all the same to me!

So here are the ladies that I admire for their style in the year 2010.

Clemence Poesy
I have liked her for a while now and think she's got brilliant, understated style.
Clemence isn't over girly and not overly androgynous! She's just chic! It's the Frenchess I think!

Alexa Chung
I always tried to not like Alexa for no real reason at all other than I felt like it was 'cool' to like her and therefore I went against the grain. However, I must admit, I do like her and I like her style. Alexa has that quirky look I like. She pulls off jeans, jeggins, dresses and skirts all in a laid back kind of way without looking like she's trying too hard. Her clothes don't look as if they were all purchased in Topshop but were picked up from friends' throw aways, second hand shops and vintage stalls.

Freja Beha Erichsen
I formed my little crush on Freja earlier this year.
I always had a wardrobe full of colours! It was my 'thing'. But now, as I get older I've started to turn towards more monochrome colours. It's not been an intentional thing, but maybe it was my need to not be so 'loud' anymore. I still love a bit of colour, don't get me wrong, but you have to admit Freja looks pretty great all in black!
I like that she's a little bit of Tomboy meets Sexy!

Florence Welch
After the success of her album last year with Florence and the Machine I fell in love with Florence. I absolutely her music and it makes me love her in general! She's a bit quirky as well, sometimes she can look super granny-like and other times she pulls off an outfit perfectly! Here are some of my favourite looks of Florence!
p.s. I love her red hair!

After thinking about it, I have many many more people I admire, but I think you get the hint!
So there's my two cents on who my style icons were for 2010!
